SGU’s Communication Science programme combines the study of media, communication and culture with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in one of the fastest-growing global economies. At CommPR we provide two concentrations in Communication Science that prepare students for a broad range of exciting career opportunities:Ā Public Relations and Reputation Management, and International Journalism.
After the first three semesters with compulsory introductory subjects and orientation activities such as practical training and workshops, the students can decide on the concentration that they are interested in; either Public Relations and Reputation Management or International Journalism.
In the third semester, our students complete an 8-weeks internship in the communications field in Indonesia. This internship gives the students not only an inside-view in media industries and communication businesses, but it although enables them to easier decide about the concentrations of their further study-term.
The internship in the 6th semester gives students the opportunity to experience an intercultural working environment at first-class companies in Germany, Switzerland, or elsewhere in the world. With this internship abroad, CommPR students gain a competitive edge in the job market,Ā strengthen their personality and broaden their mind.
After the Final Oral Examinations in semester 7, our students complete their final theses on a research project in the communication field. The solid knowledge and skills in applied communication research and statistics enable our students to conduct high-quality research with a strong focus on both basic research and practical applications. Thus, our students produce research with a high value for communication research and businesses.
