Prof. Alexander G. Flor of the University of the Philippines (Open University) delivered a workshop entitled “Information Society Research Traditions: A Southeast Asian Perspective” on 13 April 2012 at Swiss German University campus in BSD, Tangerang.
Around 15 academics and government officials from Jakarta, Bogor and Bandung attended the half-day workshop.
The Dean of Faculty of International Business Administration and Humanities Rudy Tobing, MBA opened the workshop, which was hosted by the Department of Communication and Public Relations of Swiss German University.
During the workshop, Prof. Flor shared his knowledge about, among other things, Information Society, Information and Communication for Development (ICTD) and mix methodology.
Prof. Flor visited Swiss German University in his capacity as a mentor for a research team consisting of Principal Investigator Ezmieralda Melissa and members Muninggar Sri Saraswati and Anis Hamidati of the Department of Communication and Public Relations.
The research team is currently doing a research project entitled “The Internet and Women Empowerment – A Study of How Women in Indonesian Urban Areas Use Social Media to Become Entrepreneurs”. The research project started in January this year after the team won an award from the Strengthening Information Society Research Capacity Alliance (SIRCA II) this year.
