Elevating Indonesia’s Hotel & Tourism Sector by Organizing HARFEST 2018

On Friday, 11 May 2018, semester 2 students from Hotel and Tourism Management organized the annual event, Harfest 2018 (Harmony Festival), at United Grand Hall, Alam Sutera, Tangerang. This event consisted of two main competitions, which were: Latte Art Competition and National Front Desk Competition. Each competition had 2 categories: professional and amateur/university levels.

For the Latte Art competition, the contestants had to demonstrate both etching and free pour techniques for their coffee. After completing their beverages, they then presented the coffee to the judges. The winners from the professional category for this competition were Surya Yoko, Ade Yonizar, and M. Ridwan. In the amateur category, the winners were Garrison David, Exel Cameron, and Andre Ragil Kenyan.

 

For the National Front Desk Competition, the contestants had to complete a written examination in 45 minutes. After that, they proceeded to the quarter final and then the final rounds, where they had to conduct progressively more difficult, problem solving role-play sessions at the reception desk. The winners at the University level were Novita Aprilia from Trisakti University, and Carolyne Lo and Felicia Lionard from Binus University. The winners of the Professional category (Hotelier Level) were Putri Octavian and M. Nazar Husein.

SGU hope that through these competitions it can elevate Indonesia’s hotel and tourism sector.
