SGU, 3 Dec 2009, Loud cheer and applause filled the room after St. Peter National Plus High School was announced as the winner of the Life Sciences Competition on 21^st November 2009. St. Peter National Plus won after a heart-breaking elimination round held on 14th November followed by a tough final round consisting of theoretical quiz, laboratory practice section and quick round, Santa Ursula BSD High School was Runner-up and St. Peter International High School was the Second Runner-up.

This event was organized by 1st semester students from the Faculty of Life Sciences, with the aim of developing interest in life-sciences (math, physic, chemistry, biology) among high-schoolers. In the opening speech, Pro-Rector Academic Prof. Dr. Ir. Marsudi Kisworo addressed the need for more engineers and scientists to bring Indonesia to the next level, and said that the interest in life-sciences is the starting point to achieve this objective.

The winner was awarded a trophy and prizes of Rp. 3 Million, the Runner-up received a trophy and prizes of Rp. 2 Million and the Second runner-up received Rp. 1.5 Million. The trophies and prizes were presented by the Dean of Life Sciences Faculty, Dr.rer.nat Maruli Pandjaitan.
