Research and Industrial Partners

Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi

Cooperation with Faculty of Information Technology on a variety of areas, including research and developing on field of communication, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) and information technology and communication. Indonesia that is one of the signatories of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, is required by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) to implement new standards of communication, navigation, and surveillance for air traffic management. The new standards, which are called CNS/ATM, necessitate the implementation of the ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) as a means of digital data communication, which complements the existing voice communication, to provide a better air traffic management. To implement the ATN in Indonesia, the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) of the Indonesian government started a research program in 2007 to develop ATN TP4/CLNP Networking Suite (http://sourceforge.net/projects/atn) for the GNU Linux systems. The networking suite will provide the communication services that are necessary to enable the ground-to-ground, air-to-ground, and avionics data subnetworks to interchange data by adopting common interface services and protocols based on the ISO OSI reference model. This research program was expected to deliver an economical solution for the Indonesian government to fulfill the requirement of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
