SGU PREPARES FOR AEC 2015 THROUGH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

BSD City, 25 November 2015 – An educational institution has the obligation to promote and disseminate their scientific and technological development to both national and international community. In the effort to fulfill this duty as well as in conjunction with the integration of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, SGU held International Conference on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (ICONIET) as a collaborative effort between university, government, and business players to promote Indonesia’s readiness to embrace AEC 2015 challenges and opportunities. The conference is participated by foreign and Indonesian professional and/or academic communities.

As SGU’s continuous effort to promote research and publication among the academicians as well as to disseminate awareness on the status of the ASEAN Economic Community’s capability in technological maneuvers and entrepreneurial capacity, for this conference SGU collaborates with EAH Jena – Germany, Palawan State University (PSU) -Philippines,  Institusi Pertanian Bogor (IPB) – Indonesia, and International Management Institute Switzerland (IMI). In addition to the support of fellow educational institutions, the conference was further supported by government officials and industry players with various contributions such as keynote session on related topics as well as sponsorship.

The two-day conference was held from 25 to 26 November, 2015 at Hotel Mercure Alam Sutera BSD and was opened by Deputy for Coordinating Creative Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Competitive Cooperative and SMEs, Dr. Ir. Rudy Salahuddin, MEM.

“I hope this forum will be able to bring forward recommendations on how we can collaborate as it offers the opportunity to bring together experts and practitioners from many institution from various countries: Philippines, Japan, and even from Switzerland as I noted,“ said Dr. Salahuddin on his keynote speech.

SGU Rector, Dr. rer.-nat. Filiana Santoso also delivered her opening speech on the first day of ICONIET, “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Technology have big impact to increase economic growth, so the role of educational institutions is to establish a workforce that is highly skilled and has competitive value. This is a long-term goal of ICONIET,” she said.

The international-scale conference is planned to be held each year by SGU as a part of its commitment to fulfill the role of educational institution in developing competent human resource who are ready for global challenges and eventually become the nation’s assets.
