Teacher Leadership Program

On 26th March 2016, the Business Administration Department of Swiss German University in cooperation with Inisiatif Hijau and Yayasan Smartschool conducted a CSR activity for elementary teachers called Teacher Leadership Program. The program has been held 4 times continuously with the purpose to improve teaching quality and to make teachers to be more aware of the current situation of their students. The CSR was attended by 25 people including teachers from SMAN 3 Cirebon.

The Business Administration Department was represented by Dr. Rachman Sjarief, the Head of BA Department who shared about leadership and awareness of school stakeholders. These abilities are needed so that the teaching process can be comprehensive since it involves teachers, students and stakeholders including the parents. Fiter Abadi, the Deputy Head of the BA Department shared the ability to have a continuous framework of plan. This ability enables teachers to have a focus project which could be run systematically from grade 1 to 6. Moreover, to enrich the knowledge of the teachers, Aegidius Kiranasurya, the SGU Student Counselor, shared the current student’s situation from the view of psychology. This view is important to understand a student’s situation and issue and how to solve it constructively.

Ambiya Pietoyo, from Inisiatif Hijau, shared the importance of stakeholders to a sustainable teaching process. He shared that every individual who has a relationship with the school is important and should be taken into consideration for the quality improvement of the school. These stakeholders include the administration staff and school board.

The participants believed that through this CSR activity, they can learn not only how to deliver a subject in a class but as well how the process in the school could be improved by involving all stakeholders.
