Tuesday, June 13, 2017, Swiss German University (SGU), along with Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), and Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), signed a community service cooperation agreement to empower community sustainably which is in accordance with the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. This agreement signing was conducted in Kelurahan Keranggan office, Setu district, South Tangerang and was signed by 4 parties who are directly involved in foster village development cooperation; they were Director of LPPM UMN (Dr. Ir. P.M. Winarno, M.Kom.), Director of LPPM UPH (Prof. Dr-Ing Harianto Hardjasaputra), Director of LPPM SGU (Dr.-Ing. Evita H. Legowo), and Head of Kelurahan Keranggan (Agus Muhdi).

The purpose of this community service cooperation agreement signing is to improve community resources and the quality of nature in Keranggan Village, Setu district, South Tangerang. Keranggan Village is dominated by local people. It has many industrial producers in the field of food, for instance Kacang Sangrai producer. Other than that, through this Foster Village development, these 3 universities will collaborate with the South Tangerang government to help Keranggan Village to become Ecotourism Village (Kampung Ekowisata).

This community service cooperation program began in 2015 by organizing a Community Service (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat – PKM) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) national conference, at UMN campus. The conference theme was “The Synergy between Universities and Businesses for Sustainable Community Empowerment”. That conference was an event to bring researchers together along with the business and industry fields, so they can incorporate the university’s PKM program with the industry’s CSR program.

This year, the team has already decided the main focus of this community service program. In the next step, the team will help the universities to identify all the possibilities that the foster village needs and also to help the village to develop both human and natural sources, so the main purpose is to make Keranggan Village to be Ecotourism Village (Kampung Ekowisata).
